“Gorgeous waterfront location – we didn’t want to leave”

We have stayed at 3 other places in Port Vila and this is our favourite. My husband had a medical conference next door at the Warwick Le Lagon where we initially planned to stay and I’m so glad we chose Pacific Lagoon Apartments instead. (And our 2 bed waterfront apartment was 1/3 of the price of a family room with no view at the Warwick). In fact the view was so nice that we decided to skip trips to waterfalls and beach trips in favour of relaxing and enjoying the place we were, looking at the view from our veranda. We have previously stayed further up the lagoon as well as closer to the ocean/beach – and I think that the location of this property is the best in terms of view. Buses are frequent going past so getting into town is easy if you need to and tours / transfers do pickups from here.

On arriving the Manager (Chris) and staff helped us with our bags to our apartment and gave us a quick run down. They were super relaxed and helpful, knowledgeable, efficient, unimposing but available throughout our stay, and are an asset to this property. Cleaning each day was spot on and the ladies wait until you aren’t needing your room. The free wifi was a bonus compared to other places in Vila that have none, although reception is a bit sketchy in the rooms and best around the pool / lounge area. There are kayaks and life jackets free to use. Bring water shoes for walking out the front in the lagoon at low tide (although they had spares of these as well).

We found the apartments to be well equipped and comfortable. 1 room with queen bed and wardrobe + bedsides, the other room a twin room with hanging space and drawers great for our 2 kids. Lounge room in the middle with tv/dvd and views from every room. Unfortunately my 4yr old daughter fell ill on the trip (something she picked up before leaving Australia that got worse) and we were so lucky to have a place where we could spend the days while she rested / recovered. The kitchen has everything you need, the fridge is a proper size not a bar fridge, and the outdoor BBQ in the pool area is fantastic and very clean. You can flag a bus easily from the end of the drive to the le Bon Marche supermarket for all of your food / drinks for the week. (Beware that alcohol is not served sold from Friday night – Monday morning so buy in advance). There are also a number of good resort restaurants nearby – some in walking distance, others a short bus or boat ride, for when you don’t feel like cooking. If you want to eat at Warwick Le Lagon you can use their pool facilities which we did on 1 day.

The pool, while not a big resort pool – more what you’d see in an Aussie backyard, was perfectly suitable and clean and much loved by our girls (young kids need to be supervised at all times – not a shallow / wading pool). Next to the pool area are outdoor couches for relaxing, and tables and chairs, all undercover. Overlooking the water are also a couple of hammocks if you don’t have an ocean view room (but if you can afford it – pay the extra).

Reception has all the info on tours / transfers if you need them, and a big stack of DVDs.

The place is quiet and relaxing, and although noise carries across the water from another resort – we only heard something on 1 night when they had a party and this wasn’t a problem for us. 1 night the Warwick had fireworks which we watched from the peace of our veranda.

We would not hesitate to recommend Pacific Lagoon Apartments for a couple / friends / family / group of friends stay, and hope to come again.
